What is VEX IQ?
The VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics and research project challenges that enhance their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.
The VEX IQ Challenge fosters student development of the teamwork, critical thinking, project management, and communication skills required to prepare them to become the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. |
|
Student Grade LevelThe VEX IQ Competition is intended for students grades 4 - 7.
|
Requirements for Joining the TeamPassion for STEM, a risk-taker and a team-worker are the three main qualifications for becoming a team member. We can teach students robots but we cannot teach them passion. If you have a passion for STEM we have a place for you on the team.

Build / Competition ScheduleThe season starts during the first semester of the school year with the reveal of the current year's challenging being presented in April of the previous season. Teams are responsible for design, construction and programming of their custom robot. Plans for the construction of basic robots are provided for students. However, students are encouraged to create their own designs. League competitions and One-Competitions are available to teams. Teams that have qualified for the VEX IQ World Championships will compete at this International event which is held in Dallas, TX in late April toward the end of the season.

Cost for ParticipationThere is a fee associated with participating on the VEX IQ team. Other costs involved include team uniforms and cost associated with travel. Throughout the season the students may be required to participate in events to help raise funds for the team in order to defer expenses.
