What is CREATE Drones?CREATE Drones is a program aimed at high school students. This program provides students, primarily in 9th - 12th grades, the opportunity to use standard drones and modify them and built team built game mechanisms to learn about drones, robotics and the engineering process. A truly unique and compelling fusion of drones and robotics makes this a unique and challenging learning opportunity.

Student Grade LevelThe CREATE Drone program is primarily for students grades 7 - 8.

Requirements for Joining the TeamPassion for STEM, a risk-taker and a team-worker are the three main qualifications for becoming a team member. We can teach students robots but we cannot teach them passion. If you have a passion for STEM and flight we have a place for you on the team.

Build / Competition ScheduleThe season starts during the first semester of the school year with the reveal of the current year's challenging being presented in April of the previous season. Teams are responsible for piloting, maintenance and modification of their standard drone. In addition, teams must design a mechanism which must be triggered by their drone. Teams compete in a league play tournament. Teams that have qualified for the CREATE Open - Open will compete at this national event which is held in Council Bluffs, IA in early April at end of the season.

Cost for ParticipationThere is a fee associated with participating on the CREATE Drone team. Other costs involved include team uniforms and cost associated with travel. Throughout the season the students may be required to participate in events to help raise funds for the team in order to defer expenses.
