2021-2022 Innovation and Imagination Student Challenge
This is the inaugural year that the Mid-Pacific Owls Robotics Team participated in this student challenge. This program was developed by the University of Hawaii college of architecture in conjunction with Hawaii's Wood Show. Teams of students from middle school through university level were tasked with creating an innovative and imaginative product using Hawaii hardwoods. These woods were donated by local suppliers for teams to use in their creations. Our team imagined what if modern day robotics engineers went back in time to ancient Hawaii and assisted the military then with a custom battlebot using materials from that time. The team cam up with this autonomous sensor controlled robot named "Kia'i" or the protector. Our creation combines modern day microcontroller technology with Hawaii hardwoods such as Koa, Mango, Ironwood, Eucalyptus and Mahogany. Here is our journey on the creation of our award winning submission.
