About Us.

The Mid-Pacific Owl Robotic was re-established in 2016 to offer STEM learning opportunities for students of the Mid-Pacific Institute through their participation in competitive robotics. Students from grades 4 through 12 are invited to join the program and experience the excitement of robotics.

Re-established in 2016

In just a few years our program has been transformed from a high school club to a full functioning robotics program spanning across the entire campus. Elementary, Middle and High school aged students now have the opportunity to learn robotics together creating a synergy of STEM learning.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide skill-appropriate STEM learning opportunities to students grade 4-12 through participation in competitive robotics. The program offers various robotic platforms to capture the interest of all students such as VEX IQ, CREATE Drones, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition.

Our Team

Weyland Bailey, M.Ed.
Engineering/Robotics Instructor

Mr. Bailey joined the Mid-Pacific Institute in 2016 and expanded the competitive robotics program to include elementary, middle and high school students. Multiple robotics competitions have been won by the Owls including earning multiple invitations to compete on national and international levels.  During the day, Mr. Bailey is an instructor of high school students in robotics, engineering and design.

Brian Grantham
Director of Educational Technology

Mr. Grantham joined the team in 2016 to provide school-based logistical support to help the program expand through the various grade levels. The program has grown in its ability to connect both academics and technology through his leadership. During the day, Mr. Grantham oversees the Weinberg Technology Plaza, provide technology support and training to the entire Mid-Pacific Institute and supports the Cyber Patriot team.
